A 45 minute drive from Bangkok you will find the Pak Kred Home for Boys. The center cares for 250 boys aged from 7 to 18 years. A dedicated staff of 64 look after the children. The boys are provided shelter, food, clothing and medical care. Schooling is high on the list of priorities especially computer studies. The boys occasionally study Thai classical music and dance after school. Sport is encouraged including basketball and soccer.  A special class has been established for boys who suffer behavioral problems. The boys learn to make beautiful Thai handicrafts which requires great skill and patience. The boys are provided the necessary training and materials however the final design for each piece is left to the individual boys imagination. The handicrafts made are sold at the orphanage shop and monies raised helps fund the orphanage.

Summer outings and educational field trips are also an important part of the centre’s program. The orphanage aims to help the boys become part of society and able to become independent in later life. Funding is limited so outside assistance is vital for the orphanage to continue it’s wonderful work. A sponsorship program is in place and you can enquire at the orphanage during your visit should you wish to sponsor a child. 

Visitors to the orphanage are very welcome. The best time to visit is later in the afternoon Monday to Sunday when the boys gather for dinner. ( by appointment only). Please contact Siriwan at Destination Asia at least 4 weeks prior to your departure date from Australia to arrange a suitable date and time. She will need your flight details, address and contact in Australia, place of stay in Bangkok and any transport requirements if needed.

Transport to the orphanage can be arranged through Destination Asia at nett cost for travellers carrying donations. If not using Destination Asia ensure you visit with a guide who can translate for you. The staff and children do not speak English.
