Sunrise Cambodia was founded in 1997 by Geraldine Cox AM, an Australian who was working in Cambodia prior to the Coup of 1997.

Geraldine came to the rescue of a group of children deserted in an orphanage where she formally volunteered. So started Geraldine’s life’s work.

The centre provides residential care for special children. Children affected by HIV, disability or children at risk. A Pre-School offers free learning to local community children who would otherwise not have the opportunity. Quality education, sporting facilities and health care are provided. Those children in residential care are provided nutritious meals three times a day.

Sunrise Cambodia educates the local community through various health and social programs. Currently an new Mental Health Education program is being developed and will be commenced in 2021 pending approval in relation to Covid 19 movements. Future programs  will include Anti-alcohol and drug abuse education, Anti-gambling education and other issues which force children out of their homes, and place them at risk in the community.
