Sunrise Angkor Children’s Village Wishlist
For personal needs:
New or second summer weight clothing in good condition for boys and girls aged from 1-18 years. Pants for 5 and over especially needed. Boys teenage clothing maximum size Australian 16 or ‘SM’ shirt and 30″ pants. Belts, Beds, Matresses, Single bed sheets, pillows, pillowcases, mosquito nets, shampoo, soap, talcum powder, toothpaste, soft toothbrushes, sanitary pads, nail brushes, hair brushes, hairclips (for girls) spray cologne (for girls), hair gel, new stage make up (Max Factor) or new normal make up (for Khmer dance performances) Hair conditioner is not needed. For health reasons toiletries must be new.
For babies:
Quality Milk formula 1 or 2 (none produced in China please) disposable nappies, Bonds babies singlets, baby walkers, Curash products, baby shampoo, baby oil and talc. No soft or knitted toys due health reasons.
For school:
Good second hand lap tops, School bags, exercise books, texta colors, crayons, erasers, pencil sharpeners, rulers, paints and paint brushes, colored paper for collage, sticky tape, scissors, craft material. * No need currently for pencils or pens. Ample in store
For sport:
Soccer balls, Volleyballs, Volleyball net, caps, sports clothing, soccer boots and running shoes, skipping ropes, tennis racquets, tennis balls, bathers, thongs, coloring in books. * Soccer boots or shoes must be new. Cambodian Customs do not allow the import of used footwear.
For entertainment:
Jigsaw puzzles and games. Lego and other constructive material. Khmer pop music,(MP3 or CD) DVD disc (Australian PAL fine) stickers, sewing kits,musical instruments, portable MP3/CD players. TOYS ARE NOT REQUIRED.
For medical needs:
Dettol, Tiger Balm, children’s paracetamol, fabric bandaids (not plastic), cotton wool, antiseptic swabs, bandages (all types),Melolite, saline, tweezers, eye wash cups, aloe vera gel, aeroguard or Rid, wool or cotton blankets.
For the staff:
A4 paper, envelopes, highlighters, solar powered calculators, glue sticks, sticky tape, digital camera, USB’s, post its, clipboards, manila folders, clipboards, photo albums, staplers and staples, plastic envelopes, rubberbands.
For dining:
Melamine or stainless steel plates, bowls and cups. Rice, cooking oil, vegetables, fruit, sugar and salt. (purchase at the local market in Cambodia)
For cleaning:
Windex, washing powder, dishwashing liquid, antiseptic,
Heavier items such as washing powder, antiseptic can be purchased locally and are usually 40 to 50% cheaper than Australian prices but remains out of reach for many orphanages.
